Tai chi is often described as moving meditation, as it promotes a sense of stillness and calm through gentle, flowing movements. These movements are performed slowly and with focus (mindfulness). Breathing is deep and relaxed. It incorporates gentle stretching and rotational movements, massaging the internal organs. Each posture flows smoothly into the next, ensuring that the body is in constant motion.
Tai chi can lower blood pressure, improve balance and movement. It can also improve cognitive function, sleep patterns, and anxiety. With practise, a sense of balance and calm slowly develops to encompass all aspects of daily life.
